Job Description:

IBT Construction, LLC is a Florida Corporation under contract with the Florida Department of Transportation to Reconstruct US41/SR45 from 10th Street to 14th Street in Sarasota. The project is a widening, reconstruction of the existing roadway as well as constructing two (2) new Round-A-Bouts - one (1) at 10th street and once (1) at 14th street. The project work consists of: Clearing and demolition of existing roadway and concrete curb/sidewalk Earthwork Roadway construction Drainage Water & Sewer Utilities We are looking to hire multiple Pipe Layers to add to our project team. JOB DESCRIPTION General Summary of the Position: Responsible for laying and joining concrete, plastic, or cast-iron pipe for drains, sewers, and water mains. This includes rigging pipe for hoisting, setting pipe to grade and affixing the pipe joint. Prepare and grade the trenches either manually or by communicating with onsite equipment operators. The Pipe Layer position requires manual labor as well as assisting other crew members as necessary with hands-on work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Work cooperatively with the crew to accomplish tasks Lay and join pipe for drains, sewer and water lines rigging pipe, setting pipe and affixing pipe to joints Maintain tools and equipment so that they are kept in good working order and are safe for use Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills Operate construction equipment as required Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures and regulations Maintain a clean and safe work environment to include equipment operated Perform a variety of general labor tasks as required for the job Other duties as required Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions Strong communication skills to coordinate work flow with production operator Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Knowledge of and ability to determine appropriate grades Ability to figure grade & read plans
