Products include industry leading brands such as DIGIORNO pizza, DRUMSTICK ice cream snacks, and H'AGEN-DAZS premium ice cream. POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is the entry point to fill front line selling positions including Sales Representative Relief, Sales Representative and Pre-Sales Representative as openings occur. The Sales Utility position is an entry-level position selling Nestl's frozen products. This position will provide relief coverage to the District Sales Leader and Sales Representatives and to provide coverage for Sales Representatives in their absence. The Sales Utility may also be called on to cover open routes due to vacancies within a district. This role will provide customer service, maintain sales in store and serve as the contact person while they provide relief support to specific retail accounts. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a sales relief, filling temporary vacancies for Sales Representatives Will require coverage across broad geographies - may require overnight visits Perform Sales calls and open new accounts, as planned in conjunction with the District team Identify and act on selling opportunities, utilize problem solving techniques to respond to competitor activities, maintain/increase space Perform merchandising responsibilities in support of Sales Reps Perform product resets according to agreed upon plan-o-grams and schedules Execute perfect service, ensure stores set to schematic, flavor to tag, execute promotional displays, and keep back stock organized ell all authorized programs as well as incremental selling opportunities Manages inventory and rotates product on an on-going basis in all accounts; rotates stock and replaces outdated or damaged product Acts with a sense of urgency to service calls from customers due to increased programming and or unforeseen circumstances, follows store service schedules Uses prepared sell sheets to sell programs, SKUs, distribution voids, shippers, and displays Ensures proper display and pricing of all products, and utilizes all available promotional materials Operates Company vehicles safely and courteously if needed; responsible for timely product deliveries and coordination with back room receivers and store personnel if needed Communicate directly with team members on issues, openly share ideas with others, encourage performance in others, give feedback when needed, and train new employees when applicable JOB ESSENTIALS/ ATTRIBUTES: Effective sales and presentation skills to drive for results and win in the marketplace Ability to practice safe working habits at all times Initiative: Self-starter, gets involved quickly, takes on difficult tasks with enthusiasm. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION LEVEL: Must be at least 21 years of age for DOT covered positions High School Diploma / GED equivalent Must have reliable transportation to and from work Must have a valid, unrestricted Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or a Class B Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) with ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 30 days of hire, with a driving record satisfactory to established company requirements Successful completion of post offer background checks, drug screen, DOT physical and motor vehicle report Must live within 50 miles or 60 minutes of primary work location Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which may include early morning/late night hours; Willing to work any day of the week, weekends, Holidays and required over-time as specific to role Some travel coverage across broad geographies and potential overnight visits Must possess basic math and computer skills Ability to use computer ordering equipment Ability to work safely Ability to read, write and speak English 1-2 years of experience owning/operating a truck preferred 1-2 years of Selling experience preferred 1-2 years of DSD/Consumer Package Goods industry/Grocery experience preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Willing to work in extreme temperatures and maneuver in retail/warehouse/customer freezers. Subject to cold temperatures, -20 degrees Fahrenheit while working in store freezer units up to 20 minutes, 5-7 times daily. Hands/Arms: Constantly, using both hands/arms throughout work shift while forward reaching, handling, gripping, power grasping, fingering, and above shoulder reaching while stocking and loading/unloading Nestl frozen product. Frequently using both hands and arms while stacking boxes or moving product via a manual pallet jack/carry aid with product weight ranging from 15-35 lbs. Flexion and extension of the wrists while placing product on the carry aids, moving the product from the shelving units in the store freezers and transporting returns to the back of the warehouse/truck. Head/Neck: Frequently, moving head and neck while loading/unloading items from vehicle to carry aids, carry aids to freezer shelves, performing back room stocking duties and off-loading pallets of products to freezer carry aids. Lifting/Carrying: Constantly, 1-5 pounds of individual Nestl frozen products up to 800-1000 items per stop or 4,000-7,000 items daily, no carrying; Occasionally (15%) up to 40 pounds boxed and/or 6-8 pack Nestl frozen product from pallet to freezer rack or six-wheel cart, carrying short distance up to 6 feet. Repetitive lifting/carrying 10-35 pounds of product in boxes from racking unit to the pallet or cart. Pushing/Pulling: Frequently, using both hands/arms while moving materials via wheeled cart, exerting a force up to 15-35 pounds, depending on surface/slope. Rarely up to 35-75 pounds of force moving palletized load using pallet jack. Bending/Twisting: Frequently, at waist 30-45 degrees while loading/unloading items from carts to freezer shelves, performing back room stocking duties and off-loading pallets of frozen products to freezer carts. Flexion and twisting of the upper torso and bending when placing product on the carry aid at varying height levels. Torso flexion while bending over and stooping when loading product from the carry aid into the freezer units and properly placing safety cone in the correct location. Bending to raise and lower truck doors, folding lift gate and placing dock plate in storage location. Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally, while stocking freezer display shelves or off-loading pallets at floor level and while picking orders off the trucks and placing them on the carts. Standing/Walking: Frequently, while performing some duties in customer locations, walking up to four hours per shift on concrete or tiled surfaces. Stepping on and off of the back of the truck when loading product. Sitting: Occasionally (10%), while driving vehicle between customer locations. Potential for awkward posture during entry and exit of vehicle and vibration of vehicle when in motion. Static position when driving vehicle to and from customer locations. Climbing: Seldom or not at all, depending on employee height and store set-up/location, using small step ladder. Balance: Wet and icy conditions in freezer units and condensation on tile floors as well as leaning into freezer units to stock shelves. Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required to ensure safe operation of vehicle and perform essential functions at retail customer locations. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed 90% indoors and 10% outdoors while operating vehicle between customer locations. Work regularly in cold temperatures (-20 degrees Fahrenheit) up to 20 minutes, 5-7 times a day. Hazards: Slippery surfaces; uneven work surfaces, wet and icy, exposure to cold, cuts, pinch points and overhead obstacles in freezers, moving equipment and normal traffic hazards while operating vehicle. Driving a variety of vehicles in all types of weather, lifting hazards, traffic hazards, fall hazard from work on dock and tailgate, fuel line rupture, hydraulic hose failure, fumes, odors and some bouncing, jarring, vibration from truck operation. Machinery: Moving machinery, such as bailers and compactors. Equipment Used: Hand truck, wheeled cart/rack, self-retracting razor blade, vehicle and handheld computer. Pallet jacks, forklift trucks, hydraulic lifts, and other pallet handling equipment are to be used only if properly trained and with manager authorization. Safety Equipment: Seat belt, gloves, safety cones, chamois, jacket, high visibility vest and knee pads. High ankle support, slip resistant and anti-fatigue steel toed or composite safety shoes.
